Genesis 3: Reaction (Unashamed vs Shamed being naked)

We understand that in these modern times, nakedness is not something deemed shameful between man and his wife. Why? Because nakedness is inevitable between a man and his wife when being intimate. On the other hand, most people would agree that it would be deemed shameful if a man and his wife should take their nakedness outside their bedroom out in the open.

My question is regarding v.7:

"Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths."

Were Adam and Eve ashamed to show their nakedness to each other? Why did they make loincloths after knowing they were naked? Were the loincloths for the purpose of hiding each one's nakedness from each other---or from God? Could they have anticipated that God was about to come and discover them naked? Or did they make loincloths simply because nakedness was still shameful for both since they have not "known" each other intimately yet before they partook of the fruit?
